Small Steps In Fitness Lead to Big Victories!
You probably didn’t notice, but when you eat meals with more fibre you’re often more thirsty afterwards.
That’s because fibre is like a sponge and it soaks up the water surrounding it. In the same way, fibre and water team up to fill your stomach, leaving you feeling full.
The best thing to do is to limit your water intake with meals, but drink extra water in between meals. This way you don’t dilute your stomach acid too much while your eating your meal. You will find that this strategy will help you lose weight because water will work with fiber to help fill your stomach so you feel satisfied.
I recommend drinking half your body weight in ounces. So you weigh 160lb, your water intake would be 80oz per day!
If you don’t drink enough water and just increase the amount of fiber you eat, the fiber (think dry sponges) gets stopped up leaving you with uncomfortable constipation and gas.
Takeaway: As you increase fibre, increase the water you drink too. Drinking 4-6 glasses of water in the morning and 2 glasses in the afternoon is good strategy to get the right amount of water. Just make sure majority of that water is between meals.
