Workplace wellness programs will have little impact unless employees are willing to participate. How can you convince employees to engage in effective wellness programs? There are 3 steps to getting maximum participation.
Step 1: Your wellness program communication materials should offer to help solve employee problems
Discover what the common employee problems are. Is it regarding improving health, feeling better, quality of life, or weight loss? Employees will participate when the can see how your program will benefit them. Therefore, the goal of your communication materials should be to offer solutions to common employee problems
Step 2: Offer something of value
There many ways to incentivise wellness programs. Some examples include benefits based incentives, gift cards, and intrinsic motivators such as better quality of life. Whatever you decide, you should communicate the incentives that employees can receive when they participate.
Step 3: Include a call to action
Once you get the employee attention, it’s time to tell them what you need them to do. This call for action will make it easy for them to participate. Use words such as Join Now or Click Here or Sign Up Now. Include this call to action in every email or communication material you create.
